"...the democratic promise was never supposed to be about taking away your power or giving your power to somebody else. It was always about recognizing that you have power and you can do things to change your life, to change your family, to change the community," Dooms said.
From there the conversation turns to what social media has done to activism: a false sense of community that amplifies the already powerful and leaves the most marginalized offline and unheard.
