'Let's Start Coming Together to Make Necessary Change': SA Expert on BRICS's Future
Huge volumes of BRICS trade—that now flow into US dollar hegemony—could instead drive socio-economic development across member nations, Karlind Govender, co-founder of the Friends of BRICS+ Society analytical center, told Sputnik Africa on the sidelines of the session "Peacemaking ideals in modern Eastern and Western cultures" of the St. Petersburg forum.
South African experience of "strength in diversity"
Ubuntu philosophy of "I am because you are"—that has driven significant change in South Africa—can help unite cultures worldwide, he underlined.
"It allows us in a sense to come together, limiting the amount of violence."
Cooperation with Russia
Aiming for "clear targets and metrics," South Africa and Russia need "dialogue, discussion, MoUs," and "practical workings for real outcomes," Govender said.
