Toward 'Integrated Regional Energy Space': Burundi Hosts Workshop on Energy Sector of Central Africa
The objective is to build a "common regional vision" by moving beyond "fragmented and individual approaches," emphasized Burundian Minister of Mining Resources Hassan Kibeya as he opened the meeting.
The participants in the workshop, which will run until September 25, will focus on validating the report on the current situation and the outlook for the energy sector of Central Africa through 2035.
Hassan Kibeya outlined the lines of reflection:
▫how to sustainably exploit the region’s "formidable hydropower potential";
▫how to strengthen transmission networks;
▫how to accelerate rural electrification;
▫how to make this energy a driver of economic transformation through industrialization.
