From deepening South Africa-Russia relations to expanding economic opportunities for young Zimbabweans, this Nnete Fela Show explores how diplomacy, development and youth-focused policies are shaping Africa’s future.
Following the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, we examine the bilateral meeting between South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Russian President Vladimir Putin and what it signals for the longstanding relationship between Pretoria and Moscow.The two leaders discussed deeper cooperation in trade, investment and other areas of mutual interest while strengthening coordination within BRICS.South African geopolitical analyst Jackie Shandu says the engagement reflects the durability of the relationship.He points to the countries’ historical ties and sees further potential for cooperation in areas such as energy, transport, infrastructure and industrial development.The programme also turns to Zimbabwe, where President Emmerson Mnangagwa has launched the first phase of a youth housing initiative in Mvurwi, Mashonaland Central. “I think the talks mark a continuous, strong relationship between South Africa and the Russian Federation,” Shandu says.
He points to the countries’ historical ties and sees further potential for cooperation in areas such as energy, transport, infrastructure and industrial development.
