The Future is Here: Russia Now 3D-Prints Small Arms Parts

Rostec's Center for Additive Technologies (CAT) has begun 3D-printing muzzle brakes, compensators, and flash suppressors for firearms, reducing manufacturing time and cost.

Key details:

🟠The printed parts are monolithic with complex internal geometry—traditionally a slow, multi-stage process prone to deviations.

🟠Using selective laser melting of domestic titanium alloy, the entire batch was printed on a single platform in about one day, with minimal post-processing.

🟠Each device weighs under 300 grams—lighter than conventional analogs—and reduces recoil, flash, and noise while improving accuracy and shooter comfort.

The project demonstrated the speed of our production and the capabilities of 3D printing for complex parts, according to the center's CEO Alexey Mazalov.
