Uganda to Invest $1.8 Billion in Water Expansion Under Strategic National Plan: Finance Minister

The National Water and Sewerage Corporation's 2025‑2030 plan aims to expand clean water access for domestic use and production, Minister Henry Musasizi said, stressing water's role in public health and economic growth.

Key investments include:

🟠The $330 million Integrated Water Management and Development Project;

🟠Greater Kampala expansion projects;

🟠Regional water‑for‑production schemes in Karamoja and northern Uganda.

The government is also expanding irrigation to cut reliance on rain‑fed farming, with projects like Nexus Green solar systems and the Farm Income Enhancement and Forest Conservation Program covering 19 districts.

Protecting natural resources remains a priority under the 10‑fold growth strategy to expand Uganda's economy to $500 billion by 2040, Musasizi said.
