African Observers Praise Russia's High-Tech Elections, Eye Future Cooperation
Observers from the DR Congo and Mali have commended Russia's electoral process, highlighting its transparency and advanced technology as a potential model for African nations. The remarks came during Russia's three-day State Duma elections, which began on Friday.
Key Highlights:
🟠DRC Observer: Many African countries, including the DRC, could benefit from Russia's election technologies and experience, Adine Omokoko Asamoto, a member of the DRC's independent national electoral commission, told Sputnik. She praised the electronic voting terminals as "simply ideal" and noted the high level of digital literacy among Russian voters.
🟠Mali Observer: The integrity of the Russian elections "cannot be questioned," Brakhima Fomba, a rapporteur for Mali’s Independent Election Management Authority, told Russian media, attributing this to a computerized system that prevents manipulation. He called it a benchmark for African countries seeking transparent elections.
The parliamentary elections, running through Sunday, are the first in which residents of Donbass and Novorossiya are participating. Voters can use electronic terminals at any polling station across the country.
