'I am Nothing Without Things That Made Me': Nigeria's Female Rapper

"Whatever I do, I try to infuse my roots into my craft," turning to the Yoruba language and heritage, rising songwriter and artist Fimí told Sputnik Africa.

Women are redefining the music game, bringing "more authenticity, vulnerability, genuineness," Fimí emphasized, commenting on the struggles that women face in the predominantly male industry.

However, "keep pushing and keep trying hard" to get to a point when people will listen to you, "even the whole world," the artist advised young girls.
