Aerospace Industry Support Initiative Helps SA 'Grow as Country': Defense Minister

"We're able to take forward South African skills, ideas, and as a country move together," South African Defense Minister Angie Motshekga told Sputnik Africa.

Major foreign contracts have been linked to building industrial capability in South Africa, with participation "at different levels," Minister of Trade and Industry Parks Tau highlighted to Sputnik Africa.

"That's capability as a country that we should be proud of," Tau added.

Supported by the Aerospace Industry Support Initiative, a small startup company developed a portable drone, designed to compete with international markets, "with almost 80% of components that we are actually getting from local suppliers," Ryan Toua told Sputnik Africa.

"And that has been a really amazing platform for us to grow the product; and I'd like to say this is a Formula One vehicle in the sky," Toua emphasized.
