'As Cuba Confronts Its Own Difficult Hour, Namibia Must Stand With Cuba,' Says Namibia's President
The bond between Namibia and Cuba has been tempered through collective sacrifice decades prior to Namibian sovereignty, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah stated.
The blood Cuba spent in Southern Africa fed directly into the realisation of UN Security Council Resolution 435, the foundation of Namibian independence and a blow that helped topple apartheid in SA, she said.
Cuba is facing severe economic challenges due to the restrictive US commercial, economic and financial blockade, Nandi-Ndaitwah reminded.
The country must be removed from unilateral lists restricting its access to international banking and development aid, she urged, saying that no nation should be denied prosperity for taking an independent path.
