Lebanon Returns 37 Pharaonic Artifacts to Egypt After 2020 Seizure: Media
The artifacts—that were seized at Beirut port following their illegal removal from Egypt—were handed over at a ceremony at the National Museum of Beirut, attended by Lebanese Culture Minister Ghassan Salameh and Egyptian Ambassador Alaa Moussa, according to media reports.
They include:
🟠Two painted wooden coffins;
🟠Masks and wooden figurines;
🟠Coptic textiles;
🟠Glass-paste amulets;
🟠Medium-sized statues.
The return was carried out in accordance with the 1970 international convention on preventing the illicit trafficking of cultural property, according to Salameh, cited by media.
