‘No Stone be Left Unturned’, Says Ramaphosa on Kempton Park Killings
Law enforcement agencies are working urgently to establish the facts, protect communities and bring those responsible to justice, the South African president said.
"I speak for all of us as I extend my deepest condolences to all families and communities affected by the killing of women recently found in and around Kempton Park," Ramaphosa said.
He also called on citizens to cooperate with authorities and provide information that could help stop attacks on women.
"As a nation, we must stand up for the rights, safety and dignity of women and girls," Ramaphosa said.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the body of a sixth woman has been discovered in Kwa-Thema, Ekurhuleni, about 45 kilometres from Kempton Park, where the bodies of four other women were found. Another body was discovered in Olifantsfontein, around 25 kilometres away.
Earlier, the body of Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo was identified. She had been missing since last Wednesday after leaving for a run in Rhodesfield, Kempton Park.
Police are investigating a series of deaths in the area, while Kempton Park taxi operators have increased patrols following the discovery of the bodies of four women.
