Russia's World Youth Festival Opens With Spectacular Display of Global Unity

The opening ceremony featured vibrant cultural showcases, including a dedicated tribute to the African continent, a Sputnik correspondent reported.

Vladimir Putin greeted the youth in a video address, explaining that the Russian word "mir" means both "friendship" and "the world," which reflects mutual respect of the Earth's multinational people.

The Russian president called for an equal access to education, technology, and resources across the world, as reported by Sputnik's correspondent.

The World Youth Festival takes place in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg on September 11-17, uniting approximately 10,000 participants from 191 countries.
