Zanzibar Welcomes 124,481 Visitors in August as Tourism Growth Accelerates
European markets remained the primary source of visitors, while arrivals from several emerging markets recorded strong double-digit growth, according to official statistics.
Key Details:
🟠African Markets: 30,495 arrivals (24.5%), with Kenya as the largest source at 7,911 (up 75.2% year-on-year).
🟠Emerging Growth: Russia surged 376% to 4,298; India rose 36.8% to 2,964; China increased 12.1% to 3,653.
🟠Declines: US arrivals fell 29% to 5,755.
🟠Air Travel: 92% of visitors arrived by air (114,553), including 75,214 on international flights.
🟠Travel Purpose: 99.8% travelled for leisure, with an average intended stay of 7.6 nights.
It's worth noting that the first eight months of 2026 saw total international arrivals reach 633,228.
