This Nnete Fela Show asks what does the BRICS summit mean for the working class? Additionally we discuss SA's GBV dialog in KZN and the importance of building African health sovereignty.
With the leaders of BRICS countries on the way to India to sit for two days discussing all the most pertinent matters of the BRICS bloc, we discuss what this edition of the BRICS summit could mean for the working class.
Since its establishment we have seen real economic and political growth within BRICS but has it trickled down all the way to the level of the worker?
Cosatu National Spokesperson Zanele Sabela joins the show to discuss this.
She argues that the issues of workers must be considered beyond the conversation of BRICS because workers around the world over are under stress.

"When you talk about reforming and things to benefit workers, it shouldn't just be a BRICS thing. I think workers across the world are feeling the pinch," Zanele says.

The discussion then goes into South Africa’s national dialog process. Through this process SA is attempting to convene with communities to talk about and decide on what is the South Africa they want to build.
We focus on the pilot dialog convened by the Gender-Based Violence and Femicide sector who gathered in the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Vanessa Samuels-Chetty, National Dialogue Steering Committee Member joins the show to inform this conversation.
Finally, the show’s host Seakga Tladi provides some insight into why it’s so important to build a sovereign health system for the African continent, especially in light of recent funding cuts for African health programs.
