Burkina Faso Aims for 70% Electrification Rate by 2030

To achieve the goal, the Burkinabe government has adopted a ~$184 million funding project for sectoral initiatives, according to a report from the latest Burkinabe Council of Ministers meeting.

SONABEL, the national public electricity company, and the Faso Vêenem Agency are expected to receive the necessary equipment and infrastructure to ensure the expansion of the transmission and distribution networks.

"Ultimately, the implementation of this project will make the network more reliable, capable of handling greater electrical power, and will also contribute to extending the electricity grid" across Burkina Faso, stated the Minister of Energy, Mines, and Quarries, Yacouba Zabré Gouba.
