'Investing the Crisis': How Zambia Can Leverage Global Energy Problems to Become Stronger
The escalating crisis in the Gulf region is raising concerns over global crude oil prices, with recent developments pushing prices above $100 per barrel, a situation that could significantly increase fuel costs in Zambia, Zambian energy expert Johnston Chikwanda told Sputnik Africa.
The energy industry need to cooperate with the Energy Regression Board as it works to optimize the strategic reserve fund under the Energy Fund, which could help stabilize energy prices, the expert added.
Expanding biofuel production could help reduce petroleum import costs by more than $300 million, Chikwanda noted.
"We need to diversify the petroleum sector by ensuring that biofuels mandates are implemented and also to escalate the development of the electric vehicle industry."
