US President Donald Trump described his latest conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin as “great,” saying the Russian leader wants to reach a deal on Ukraine.
“He is wanting to make a deal, and if Zelensky is wanting to make a deal, that’d be very nice,” Trump told reporters.
Trump also said a trilateral meeting between the US, Russia and Ukraine could take place, adding that the possibility “could happen” after what he called a good conversation with Putin.
The two presidents spoke by phone for about an hour on Tuesday, with Putin outlining steps Washington could take to help end the conflict in Ukraine.
