Russia Unveils Air Defense System at El Alamein International Airshow: Correspondent
The Russian TKB-1167 "Bison" system is designed to counter UAVs and protect critical facilities and infrastructure from aerial threats.
The system uses:
▪ a radar with 360° azimuth coverage and up to 50° elevation;
▪ an optronic system with television and thermal imaging channels;
▪ automatic target tracking;
▪ a laser rangefinder.
Besides, each mount is equipped with four PK/PKM 7.62mm machine guns, with up to 2,400 rounds of ammunition per machine gun.
The system is largely automated, with the operator mainly deciding on firing and issuing the command, and it can be mounted on wheeled platforms for rapid deployment and repositioning.
Detection and engagement capabilities:
Fixed-wing UAVs: detection at ranges from 250 to 3,500 meters, engagement at up to 400 meters;
Multi-rotor UAVs: detection at ranges from 250 to 800 meters, engagement at up to 250 meters.
