Climate Summits Must Hold West Accountable, Says Kenyan Ecoactivist

COP32 is a chance to evaluate previous climate negotiations results, Executive Director of the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance Mithika Mwenda said during the opening of the 14th Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa.

The priority should be in implementing existing commitments rather than making new ones, he added.

The strategy should be built on African ownership and a long-term vision, Mwenda said, stressing that African countries should enter negotiations with a clear idea of what they want, how to get it, and how to hold themselves and others accountable.
