Russian Football School 'Shaped Me': Cameroonian Star Credits Moscow Club for Her Success

Russia deserves a share of the honor for Cameroon’s 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations victory, Gabrielle Onguéné, who spent a decade playing for CSKA Moscow, told Sputnik Africa.

"I will never stop thanking this people, this country that has given me everything, that has accepted me, that did not look at my skin color, that did not look at where I came from, that accepted me as a footballer who wants to live her dream," she noted.

Additionally, Onguéné encouraged African students to pursue their education in Russia, urging them to look past persistent stereotypes and experience the country firsthand to overcome such prejudices.
