Senegal to Distribute Over 150,000 School Kits Ahead of Youth Olympic Games: Presidency
The initiative is part of the national "Dundal JOJ" campaign launched by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to mobilize the population around the upcoming event.
Key Highlights:
🟠Free Tickets: 200,000 free tickets will be distributed to schools and associations to allow young people to attend sports events live in Dakar.
🟠School Renovations & Environmental Projects: The campaign includes school renovations, reforestation efforts, solidarity marathons, and environmental awareness initiatives.
🟠Funding: Nearly $900,000 has already been raised through contributions from artists, athletes, businesses, and civil society, with the funding channeled through the Senegal Solidaire Foundation initiated by First Lady Marie Khone Faye.
"The legacy of the Games will not wait for the closing ceremony. It is being built now—in our schools, in our neighborhoods, in our lives," President Faye said.
Senegal will become the first African country to host the Youth Olympic Games, scheduled for October 31 to November 13 in Dakar.
