South Sudan, Russia Discuss Reviving Energy Cooperation as Electricity Needs Grow: Ministry
Reactivating a stalled 2024 energy deal with Russian hydropower company RusHydro was recently discussed during a meeting between South Sudan's Minister of Energy and Dams Agok Makur Kur and Russian Ambassador Aleksandr Kosmodemyansky.
The meeting also focused on expanding bilateral cooperation and drawing on Russian expertise and technology in hydropower, oil and gas, and renewable energy, according to the Ministry of Energy and Dams.
The cooperation could support efforts to address the country's electricity challenges and meet growing energy demand, the ministry pointed out.
Both sides stressed the need to revive joint projects and turn existing agreements into concrete actions while strengthening broader relations between Juba and Moscow, the ministry concluded.
