South African National Defense Force Military Health Service Outlines Priorities Under New Surgeon General
In an interview with Sputnik Africa, outgoing Surgeon General of the SANDF Military Health Service Lieutenant General Dr. Ntshavheni Peter Maphaha said that while much remains to be done to achieve military health excellence, significant progress was made during his five years in office.
Incoming Surgeon General Major General Dr. Nsizwa Skosana said his immediate focus would be on rebuilding capacity and capability, starting with a review of structures and the establishment of a command framework within his first 100 days.
Skosana outlined five key priorities for the South African Military Health Service:
▪ Developing human capital by transforming personnel into a highly skilled workforce;
▪ Improving healthcare facilities;
▪ Expanding the use of technology, including AI, as a force multiplier;
▪ Renewing equipment for operational and base healthcare needs;
▪ Rejuvenating the medical fleet to ensure mobility and rapid response across the country.
