Egypt & China Agree to Boost Trade in Local Currencies: Joint Statement
The agreement was reached during the Chinese president's state visit to Egypt, marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the countries.
Other key outcomes of the talks:
🟠Belt and Road cooperation: deeper alignment between Egypt's Vision 2030 and China's Belt and Road Initiative, with the aim of turning Egypt into a regional hub for industry, logistics, clean energy, and the digital economy;
🟠Major projects: cooperation in infrastructure, transport, energy, space, technology, AI, digital transformation, and manufacturing;
🟠Trade balance: Egyptian products to gain greater access to the Chinese market, with consultations on an Early Harvest Agreement to exempt African countries from customs duties;
🟠Political coordination: support for a two‑state solution on Palestine, rejection of displacement plans, and calls for a ceasefire in Gaza;
🟠Red Sea and Sudan: support for Red Sea governance by its littoral states, and commitment to ending the war in Sudan through an inclusive political process.
