Nigeria's Economic Momentum Strengthens $1 Trillion Goal by 2030: Government
Nigeria's economic growth accelerated in Q2, with real GDP rising 4.43% year-on-year, a surge from 4.23% in Q2 2025 and 3.89% in Q1.
The growth base has broadened, with 27 economic subsectors achieving real growth above 3% in Q2, up from 23 in the same period last year.
The increase was largely driven by productive sectors, with manufacturing growth climbing to 3.24% from 1.60% in Q2 2025 and agriculture expanding to 4.39% from 2.82%.
The services sector, the biggest contributor to the economy, also grew by 4.60%, compared with 3.94% previously.
The IMF has also placed Nigeria in the top 10 of global real GDP growth contributors, forecasting that the country will account for approximately 1.5% of worldwide growth in 2026.
