'Africa's Self-Reliance Depends on Awakening of Africans Themselves': Tanzanian Expert
Africans must undergo a mindset shift and "abandon the belief that white people are superior," Dr. Abubakar Rajab, lecturer at the Muslim University of Morogoro, told Sputnik Africa, commenting on whether stronger ties with Russia, China, and the Global South could help Africa achieve self-reliance and reduce Western pressure.
Awakening Must Come From Within
Africa's self-reliance, Rajab emphasized, means also abandoning "foolish attitudes" such as allowing themselves to be pitted against one another along religious or ethnic lines.
BRICS as a Pathway to Break Free
However, to break free from the Western "oppressive imperialist system," African countries must take advantage of international partnerships, he noted. For example, platforms like BRICS could offer significant opportunities through their financial systems—offering alternatives to SWIFT—and the importation of foreign technology.
