Xi Jinping to Make First State Visit to Egypt in 10 Years: China's MFA

Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Egypt in early September, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said.

The visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt and carries special significance for the development of bilateral ties, he noted.

During the trip, Xi will hold talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to discuss bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of mutual interest.

According to the spokesperson, Beijing expects the visit to:

▪ strengthen traditional friendship;

▪ deepen mutual support;

▪ expand mutually beneficial cooperation;

▪ open a new chapter in China-Egypt relations while contributing to regional and global peace and stability.
