Kenyan Police Arrest Four Over Elephant Deaths in Amboseli, Fifth Suspect Sought: Media
The authorities have recovered chemicals allegedly linked to 18 elephant deaths, the tourism and wildlife ministry reportedly stated.
The suspects are now out on bail, a Kenya Wildlife Service spokesperson told media.
While lab results point to a toxic substance and early indications of cyanide from pesticide-laced tomatoes on nearby farms, some wildlife experts have expressed scepticism, noting that no other animal deaths have been reported in the area.
The arrests and seizures do not establish criminal culpability, and investigations are ongoing, the ministry stressed.
