For 500 Years in 'So-Called' Relationship With West 'We Have Lost & They Have Won': Nigerian Journalist
"The structural relationship established during the slave trade—Africa as a supplier of raw materials, Europe as a manufacturer—persisted through colonialism and continues to shape global trade patterns today," David Hundeyin explained to Sputnik Africa.
Throughout over 200 years of colonial rule, the West built infrastructure only to extract resources, "not to improve the people or to better their material conditions," he said.
Roads and railway lines were built "to connect mines and farms plantations to the ports to extract stuff and put it on a ship going to the New World or to Europe."
