The same system of unequal exchange that underpinned slavery and colonialism persists today in a "less visible form of colonialism," where the extractive relationship is disguised as business, David Hundeyin told Sputnik Africa on the occasion of the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition.
The plantation system introduced during slavery persists today as "industrial monoculture," with crops grown for export under conditions "not that significantly different to plantation labor in the 1800s," he added.
