Reparations from former colonizers could help solve some problems, but they cannot be "a miracle solution," Jean-Marie Nduwayo told Sputnik Africa, calling the transatlantic slave trade "the most abject abomination."
Leaders of Sub-Saharan African states must become aware "of their responsibility towards their fellow citizens, towards their country, towards Africa and even towards their history," said the researcher on the occasion of the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition.
