In this Nnete Fela Show, we discuss questions over Israeli-linked oil company Navitas and its proposed involvement in SA’s Orange Basin. We also discuss the latest South Africa-Zimbabwe Bi-National Commission.
South Africa’s offshore energy resources have become the center of debate as civil society groups call on the government to reject Navitas Petroleum’s proposed stake in the Orange Basin.
Roshan Dadoo, Coordinator of the South African Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Coalition argues that the issue goes beyond oil, linking concerns over environmental protection, community rights and South Africa’s foreign policy towards Israel.

"We should be sanctioning genocidal Israel, and put people and the planet before profit," Dadoo says.

The episode then turns to the fourth South Africa-Zimbabwe Bi-National Commission where agriculture, food security, biosecurity and trade featured as well.
South Africa’s Agriculture Minister Willie Aucamp joins the show to discuss agreements on farmer support, seed development and cooperation against threats such as foot-and-mouth disease.

"We saw the effects of foot and mouth disease in our country. The collaboration between us and Zimbabwe in this regard is very important," Aucamp says.

Several agreements were signed between President Cyril Ramaphosa and his Zimbabwean counterpart, Emmerson Mnangagwa to strengthen bilateral cooperation and address economic development to enhance cross-border commerce.
