Heart Disease Surges Among African Youth Due to Lifestyle Shifts: Cardiac Institute Head
Heart disorders have become one of the top ten causes of hospitalization, disproportionately affecting young people due to their bad habits, Dr. Peter Richard Kisenge, Director of Tanzania's Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute, told Sputnik Africa.
According to him, the primary drivers of this trend include:
🟠heavy smoking;
🟠excessive alcohol consumption;
🟠severe obesity driven by a lack of physical activity.
Despite this continent-wide challenge, the speaker highlighted a positive step being taken specifically in Tanzania, noting that the recent restoration of sports programs in local schools is crucial for combating these preventable health crises.
