Dangote Group Offers East Africa 30% Stake in Planned Kenyan Refinery: Official
East African countries are offered $1.5 billion in equities, with Kenya’s share worth about $500 million, Kenyan president's economic advisor David Ndii said at a capital markets forum in Nairobi.
The facility will process 600,000 barrels of crude daily from Kenyan and Ugandan oil fields, according to the official.
The project is expected to inject around $4 billion annually into Kenya's economy, added Ndii, potentially boosting the country's GDP by up to 10%.
The Dangote Group has recently announced plans to build a 700,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Kenya, modeled on his massive Nigerian refinery, to help strengthen East Africa’s energy security.
