SA & Zimbabwean Presidents Seal New Deals to Boost Trade & Agricultural Development: Correspondent
The agreements, signed at the fourth Bi-National Commission in Pretoria, aim to enhance bilateral trade, improve border management, and foster regional integration, a Sputnik Africa correspondent reported.
South Africa and Zimbabwe see major opportunities for closer cooperation in agriculture, agro-processing, energy, mining, transport and other sectors, President Ramaphosa said in his closing remarks.
He stressed that the agreements reached at the meeting must now be turned into concrete action for the benefit of both countries.
Agriculture is already one area where the two countries are deepening cooperation. South African Agriculture Minister Willie Aucamp told Sputnik Africa that the countries had agreed to work together on farmer support, seed development and biosecurity.
“We must work together” to fight foot-and-mouth disease, Aucamp said, stressing that the disease does not recognize national borders.
