Tanzania's Medical Expansion Across Africa Will Enhance Domestic Healthcare & Create Jobs: Cardiac Institute Head

The Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute just won the Top African Heart Care Award. In an interview with Sputnik Africa, its director, Dr. Peter Richard Kisenge, explained how Tanzania's health tourism push will benefit local patients too.

The specialist emphasized that the foreign currency earnings from opening medical centers abroad will directly go toward subsidizing cardiac care for underprivileged Tanzanians—helping those who can't afford treatment.

That extra income will also speed up the opening of new branches across Tanzania's regions and create jobs for newly graduated doctors, Dr. Kisenge noted.

Regional partnerships taking shape: Tanzania strengthens its medical cooperation with other African countries like Comoros, Central Africa, Congo, and Burundi, paving the way for broader economic benefits, Dr. Kisenge said, commenting on the planned launch of a cardiac center at Comoros' El-Maarufu Hospital.
