Saddam Haftar Visits Moscow for Defense Talks as Libyan Security Landscape Shifts
The deputy commander of Libya's eastern-based armed forces has held talks with Defense Minister Andrey Belousov during an official visit to the Russian capital, according to a statement from Haftar himself.
According to the military official, the discussions focused on:
🟠expanding bilateral cooperation across various fields;
🟠strengthening defense ties;
🟠developing training and capacity-building programs to enhance military capabilities and exchange expertise.
The visit coincides with a separate trip by Libyan National Army commander Khalifa Haftar to Egypt, where he met with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The synchronized diplomatic moves by Moscow and Cairo come amid regional and international efforts to advance the political process, enhance stability, and unify state institutions.
