Investors Reportedly Commit $400 Million to Dangote's Planned $2 Billion Stock Market Debut
To double the capacity of Africa's largest crude oil refinery from 700,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day, Dangote is raising up to $2 billion through an IPO expected later this month or in early September. Investors have already committed $400 million toward the target, according to a US media outlet.
◀ Previous round: This follows an oversubscribed $2.5 billion private placement, with shares actively being placed with African and Caribbean sovereign wealth funds and institutional investors, according to the media.
Strategic importance: The plant is vital for meeting Nigeria's domestic fuel demand, driving exports, and bridging regional supply shortages worsened by disruptions amid the Middle East conflict.
