On this episode of the Nnete Fela Show, we explore what economic sovereignty could look like in practice, from sovereign wealth funds and strategic investment to infrastructure, industrialization, and African-led development.
We are joined by passionate and opinionated analyst Sandile Swana, who argues that the challenge is not a lack of resources but the political will, leadership, trust, and intellectual independence needed to put those resources to work for ordinary people.
When asked what is preventing Africa from developing in an optimal fashion, Swana simply said, “What has stood in the way is the quality of African leadership.”
Later in the show, we also examine South Africa’s new Electronic Travel Authorization system with Home Affairs Minister Dr. Leon Schreiber.
The digital system aims to make travel faster and more secure, with 24-hour processing and biometric verification.
But as South Africa modernizes its borders, an important question remains: will these reforms make it easier for Africans to travel to and within the continent too?
