Tanzania & DRC Boost Economic Ties in Key Sectors After Zanzibar Summit: MFA
Presidents Samia Suluhu Hassan and Félix Tshisekedi have agreed to jointly create a conducive environment for businesses and investors while facilitating cross-border trade and value-added production, Tanzania's Foreign Ministry announced.
The agreement, which covers a wide range of economic and social sectors, was reached during talks in Zanzibar on Tuesday, according to the ministry.
Key Areas of Cooperation:
Trade & Investment: Both leaders agreed to strengthen customs services and border infrastructure.
Mining: Cooperation will focus on geological research, mineral exploration, extraction, processing, and value addition, alongside skills development and technology transfer.
Transport & Energy: The leaders agreed to increase use of Tanzanian ports and transport corridors and accelerate railway, road, and energy infrastructure projects.
Peace & Security: Both sides underscored the importance of stability as a foundation for development, with Tshisekedi emphasizing the need for Africa to ensure the continent's wealth benefits its people.
