Russian Movie Day in SA Explores the Power of Travel to Connect People
Addressing guests at Russian Movie Day in South Africa, Russia’s Ambassador to South Africa and Lesotho, Roman Ambarov, introduced the biographical adventure film Lord of the Winds, which tells the story of legendary Russian traveller Fyodor Konyukhov and his journey around the globe by hot air balloon, a Sputnik Africa correspondent reported.
The ambassador noted that for Konyukhov, travel was about more than simply covering distance — it was also about pushing the limits of the human spirit and building bridges between countries, nations and people.
He also highlighted Konyukhov’s special connection to South Africa, recalling his visit to Cape Town during a global yacht race in 1998.
