Cameroon Crowned Women's AFCON Champions: 'Start of New Era,' Sports Journalist Says

After losing three finals, the Indomitable Lionesses showed "maturity" to finally claim the trophy against Malawi, Renaud Inang, editor-in-chief of Média Sport Info, told Sputnik Africa.

"This triumph is not the end of a cycle. It is the start of a new era of domination, because Cameroon was accustomed to overwhelming everything in its path. This is a team that already had its mark on this competition, despite not having won a title. A team that was becoming increasingly feared."

The journalist highlighted the clear progress in African women's football, pointing to the growing number of interclub competitions and the increasing enthusiasm among girls taking up the sport.
