'End of Colonial Impositions': Nigerien Analyst Hails Ghana-Russia Security Cooperation in Sahel

The Ghana-Russia deal signals a shift in Sahel security cooperation, where Moscow offers field support based on the needs of the countries themselves rather than dictating terms, Adamou Oumarou, president of Niger's Citizen Academy, told Sputnik Africa.

Key Points:

🟠Russia could offer technology transfer and capacity building "according to the wishes of the states," breaking with the imposition model of previous Western partners, Adamou said.

🟠Strengthening inter-subregional cooperation is an absolute priority in counterterrorism efforts, the analyst emphasized.

The announcement came after Russian FM Sergey Lavrov met his Ghanaian counterpart on Monday in Moscow, where Lavrov stressed that Sahel security requires cooperation from all states involved—both AES countries and ECOWAS members.
