South Sudan Ready to Mediate Peaceful Settlement to Conflict in Neighboring Sudan, Says President

President Salva Kiir made the offer following talks in Juba with Darfur Governor Minni Arko Minawi, according to a presidential statement.

"Peace in Sudan means peace in South Sudan, and peace in South Sudan also means peace in Sudan," Kiir stated.

Key Details:

🟠Previous Agreement: Juba previously brokered the October 2020 peace agreement between Khartoum and rebel groups, though implementation has largely stalled amid the current conflict between the Sudanese army and the rebel paramilitary RFS group.

🟠Next Steps: Minawi confirmed a Sudanese delegation will visit Juba soon to review the 2020 agreement and assess outstanding issues, including land disputes, displacement, and abuses committed by the RSF.
