SA to Focus on Regional Trade & Integration During Its SADC Chairmanship: President
President Cyril Ramaphosa officially assumed the chairmanship of the SADC from Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the 46th SADC Ordinary Summit in Durban on Monday, according to a statement from the South African presidency.
During South Africa's 12-month tenure, Ramaphosa pledged to:
🟠advance regional economic integration, trade, and investment;
🟠promote peace, security, and sustainable industrialization;
🟠drive the implementation of SADC’s Vision 2050.
"We will seek greater integration of our economies, building ties of trade and investment that drive resilient, sustainable, and inclusive industrialization," the president said.
