US Ends Temporary Protected Status for Somalia, Extends List of African Countries: Statement
"After reviewing country conditions and consulting with the appropriate US government agencies, former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem determined that Somalia no longer met the conditions for its designation for Temporary Protected Status (TPS)," US Citizenship and Immigration Services said.
Nationals of Somalia, South Sudan, Cameroon and Ethiopia in the US are affected by the end of TPS.
ℹ TPS is granted to nationals of countries facing armed conflict, natural disasters or other extraordinary and temporary conditions that make safe return difficult. It allows eligible people to temporarily stay and work legally in the US.
