African Countries Must Move Jointly to 'Address Conditions That Drive Migration': SA President

"Our people are the product of migration. [...] We need to work together to address conflict, instability, governance failure, poverty and social discord," Cyril Ramaphosa said during his lecture in the University of KwaZulu-Natal on the occasion of the 46th SADC Summit.

Regional integration should ultimately enable people to move freely in line with established principles and laws, while ensuring that migration is based on choice, Ramaphosa said.

"We need to create equal economic opportunity and build inclusive institutions of governance," he stressed.

The 46th SADC Summit is scheduled to be held on August 17 in Durban.
