CAR Marks 66th Independence Day With Showcasing Growing Military Strength

The Central African Republic celebrated its 66th Independence Day with a spectacular military parade at Camp Kassai in Bangui, presided over by President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, a Sputnik Africa correspondent reported.

"What is happening today at Camp Kassaï is truly extraordinary. Watching today's parade, it is clear that the army is gaining strength," Stanislas Redjekouzou, a former military member, told Sputnik Africa.

The Central African Republic proclaimed its independence on August 13, 1960, after being the colonial territory of Oubangui-Chari within French Equatorial Africa.
