Guinea to Sell Bauxite Through Monthly International Tenders
The state-owned mining company Nimba Mining Company will conduct monthly international tenders for bauxite sales, according to Mining Minister Bouna Sylla.
The move aims to bring the company's commercial operations in line with global mining industry standards while diversifying its revenue streams.
Key Details:
Sales Strategy: Nimba will seek a long-term trading partner for guaranteed minimum annual volumes while selling additional output through monthly tenders.
Production Targets: The company expects to export 10 million tonnes in 2026, with plans to ramp up to at least 14 million tonnes annually within two to five years.
Diversification Plans: Nimba's long-term strategy, modeled on Saudi Arabia's Ma'aden, includes developing bauxite, alumina, gold, and base metals divisions, with construction of an alumina plant and a gold mine in the pipeline.
Government Commitment: The state-owned company, established in 2025 and operating under its first mining agreement signed in August, aims to reinvest profits to fund expansion and diversification.
